Hi all

Head on over to the Thanet Star and leave your comments. Looks they have lit the fuse locally.

The author of the article who also appears to be the editor of the Thanet Star says

Clearly the Ombudsman service is a service is crisis.

How true

Matt the author of the original article has also posted a comment as a result of some of our comments.

That's just over £2,415 per person. A nice windfall if nothing was done wrong but a cheap payment for an injustice.

Judging by the flood of response I think that I have just touched upon something that merits significantly more investigation.

My increasing sense of ill ease at the administration of the area was well founded. Frankly I find it all terrifying and now see why so many local bloggers choose to remain nameless.

I don't blame them.

Baring actual provable criminal actions a councilor can do whatever they like!

The word is spreading

Letting everyone know just how useless, perverse and harmful the ombie has become is by far the best way of getting rid of them.

People will not waste valuable time making complaints to the ombie if they knew that the ombie will bury the truth and ruin their chances of getting justice in court.

So keep spreading the word!

Hi Aku

Initially I was reluctant to advise people not to use the LGO under any circumstance holding the view that they may just be one of the lucky ones. However, my current advice is not to use the LGO under any circumstances. When you have an Ombudsman who only reports maladministration leading to injustice in 34 cases out of every 10,000 complaints submitted to her there is something seriously wrong. If that's not ban enough out of the 34 'lucky' ones you have cases like Trafford, Tynedale etc in which the council have told the Ombudsman where to stick their report. Then you have to consider the few that are left, did they ever get the remedy promised for the maladministration leading to injustice that the Ombudsman reports? In my case NO. I was one of the lucky ones in 1998 receiving a report finding maladministration leading to injustice. The Council concerned promised the Ombudsman a remedy I am still waiting for to this day. The LGO is a toothless tiger who does nothing more than suck up to the Council in an attempt to bury as much maladministration as possible because there's damn all they can do about it if the report it.

And the sooner the general public realise that the better.

Local Government Ombudsman?: Thanet Star (this blog) writes about the Local Government Ombudsman and asks a few questions. The result is a mass of talking and not a little council directed bitterness.

More from Thanet about privacy, the rise in council snooping and the LGO's impotence to do anything about it.

As I said here......... AGES ago, the best way to get rid, is NOT to shop there, that way, the raison d'etre fails.....

Do you ever return to shop again, where the greengrocer puts 1kg metal on one side, and half kilo of mould the other?

Truth is always simple.

Recommend them as the fastest losing printer of spin; £11.5ML PA, yet. If dissatisfied, then complain to them internally, see the other petiton thread, the only people wanting them are the government backers.......

GOODNESS! how long does it take for the pennies to drop.

The government likes the LGO just the way they are - toothless and obstructive.

The LGO is, in effect, an illusion used by the government to pre-occupy, distract and stop complainants from engaging in genuine and successful pursuit of justice.

The government is unwilling to give our petitions genuine consideration because the LGO was designed to be toothless and time wasting.

OK, so we all agree about the backers to: a-greed.

This is THEIR FLAG, in their OWN sincere words to people coming there for JUSTICE.

“the ombudsman will not generally pursue the question of injustice unless there is a powerful public interest to justify her continued involvement.”

The only powerful public interest there ever is, or will be, is that SPUN by the government or its little councils, trained to hound and bludgeon, very nicely wrapped in spin, when THEIR interests are threatened, and they then talk about protecting OUR public money, in THEIR pockets.

Councils do it frequently in court when their illegal revenue from stealth tax is under fire.

Then they put on the righteous cloak of the public defenders, or else the pub-lickers, and offenders.

The LGO is, in effect, an illusion

remove the words 'in effect' and get true correspondence in
The LGO IS ---- an illusion

100% on the nail YES.
